The Her City Guide is now available in Ukrainian. Download it here.

In many cities, women and girls are still excluded from basic infrastructure, services and opportunities. Those living in socio‑economically disadvantaged areas are particularly vulnerable, where inequalities and social exclusion are often reinforced. Gender‑based discrimination creates additional barriers and vulnerabilities that limit their ability to fully participate in urban life.

The Ukrainian edition of Her City has been developed to address these challenges. With its practical toolbox, the guide offers valuable support for municipal officials, urban planners and decision‑makers. It enables the integration of youth, gender and socio‑economic perspectives into urban development and design, ensuring that women and girls can actively contribute to shaping inclusive and resilient cities.

The work on the Ukrainian version has been carried out in collaboration with UN‑Habitat Ukraine and Ro3kvit, within the framework of the Baltpart project led by Sveriges Arkitekter and Shared City, funded by the Swedish Institute.

Experiences from Ukraine have also contributed to the development of the upcoming guidelines for participatory processes in situations of war and crisis. The guidelines show how inclusive design can protect and strengthen communities in crisis and respond to real challenges on the ground. Stay tuned for more information!
