Project Launch: Inclusive Urban Recovery Ukraine
May 2026
Shared City Foundation is proud to launch Inclusive Urban Recovery Ukraine, a two-years project focused on strengthening inclusive, collaborative, and democratic local recovery across Ukraine.
The project will mainly support four Ukrainian civil society organisations:
NGO Renovation Map – Drohobych
NGO Adult Learning and Education Center – Mykolaiv
NGO Cedos – Cherkasy
NGO Palace – Ivano-Frankivsk
Through targeted capacity building, the initiative will strengthen multi-stakeholder collaboration between civil society, municipalities, universities, public authorities, and private sector actors creating stronger local networks for long-term recovery and resilience.
The project will use the Her City methodology to ensure that inclusion, participation, and local ownership are embedded throughout the recovery process.
Urban Recovery Ukraine aims to achieve:
Increased local knowledge and capacity around inclusive and gender-transformative cities
Operational participatory governance processes in municipalities
A cross-city alliance connecting Ukrainian municipalities with Swedish and European networks for long-term peer learning and collaboration
The project is funded by SIDA (The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency).
